- 2005 – On the joint initiative and agreement of non-governmental organization “Bioethical Research and Culture Center”, Patriarchate of Georgia and Ministry of Health Care of Georgia one has founded St. King Tamar College of Sisters of Mercy. Doctor of medicine, professor, Hegumen Adam (Vakhtang Akhaladze) was appointed as a head of the College.
- 2006 – Based on the existing College of Sisters of Mercy with the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II St. King Tamar Institute of Social Medicine was founded in the structure of the Tbilisi Theological Academy. Created Institute had two departments: the department of Sisters of Mercy and the department of traditional medicine. Doctor of medicine, professor, Hegumen Adam (Vakhtang Akhaladze) was appointed as a head of the Institute.
- 2007 – The faculty of psychological health and psychotherapy was founded at the St. King Tamar Institute of Social Medicine for the first time in Georgia.
- 2008 – Came the first graduates of the St. King Tamar Institute of Social Medicine with the degree in Nursing - Affairs of the Sisters of Mercy.
- 2009 – Two more departments are created at the institute: 1. Department of Preventive and Social Medicine and Health Care Management; 2. Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
- On March 12th 2009 with the blessing and order of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II based on the St. King Tamar Institute of Social Medicine there was established a new independent high school – non-profit (non-commercial) legal entity – the St. King Tamar Medical Institute of Patriarchate of Georgia. Doctor of medicine, professor, Archimandrite Adam (Vakhtang Akhaladze) was appointed as a rector.
- From December 2nd 2010 according to the changes in Georgian Law about high education, with the blessing and order of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II the St. King Tamar Medical Institute of Patriarchate of Georgia was renamed the St. King Tamar Educational University of Patriarchate of Georgia.
- On December 16th 2010 St. King Tamar Educational University of Patriarchate of Georgia was granted the status of higher educational institute by the decision of the National Center for Authorization Educational Quality Enhancement.
- On January 26th 2011 Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness Ilia II and Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkin granted the rector of the St. King Tamar Educational University of Patriarchate of Georgia the document, certifying the fact of giving the university the status of higher educational institute at the meeting of Patriarchate of Georgia.
- From November 2012 the Teaching University is located on the following address: 1. Tbilisi, Dimitri Uznadze St. N68; 2. Tbilisi, Sandro Euli St. N3, 7th floor.
- From April 2015 with the blessing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II the St. King Tamar Educational University of Patriarchate of Georgia was renamed the St. King Tamar University of Patriarchate of Georgia.
